Davy's research asks how curiosity works: how exploratory behaviour becomes a directed, creative process, from design-led and from formal, algorithmic points of view. His PhD at Queen Mary, University of London, developed intrinsically motivated neuro-evolutionary algorithms — novelty search and its relatives, which reward finding new behaviour rather than meeting a fixed objective.
Later work on object-based media built tools for stories that re-edit themselves for each viewer, among them The Cutting Room.
The same questions run through the art. The recent pieces treat neural networks less as tools for making images than as systems to explore: probing what a model has learned, and letting its own structure lead.
