Blake's London

Tate commissioned Daniel Carey and me to make William Blake’s London, an iOS app about Blake’s life, his works and his influence on contemporary art and music.

Content is arranged into curated collections that unlock when you reach places significant to Blake’s life and work. Each collection holds high-resolution images of artworks, video guides and audio soundtracks; featured artists include Francis Bacon and Beth Orton.

The app took Tate’s collection of Blake to a new audience, in the gallery and out across the city. We used Google’s 3D maps rather than Apple Maps for accuracy and extra functionality, and built a secure back end so Tate could add, remove and edit content whenever they needed.
